New Zealand Covid-19 Lockdown Transport Options

So New Zealand is back in Covid-19 lockdown. Auckland has Level 3 restrictions, and the rest of New Zealand has Level 2 restrictions. This is very sad after over 100 days of being Covid free, but perhaps was inevitable. We are told that Covid-19 is a particularly tricky virus to eradicate, so perhaps the best way to deal with it is just to get on with life and try our best to work around it.

On that basis, people are still travelling to get things done, and to their offices – albeit in smaller km ranges. There are legitimate reasons to travel from your home even in Level 3 – for example, to go to your local supermarket, or to attend a hospital appointment. Buses and train services tend to get reduced during Covid lockdown periods, and they become less desirable with loading through rear doors only, the need to wear masks onboard, and increased wait periods between services.

So how can you get around? There’s still Uber, Ola, and Zoomy. With one or more of these New Zealand transport services covering most main centres of New Zealand, you can order an Uber, Ola, or Zoomy through their respective apps, and have a cost effective and safe journey to where you need to go. They served us all during the last Covid lockdown, and they will serve us again just as well – maybe even better this time around!

You can join / download any of these services using the banners provided on this website (look in our right hand sidebar). Please note that the operators do change their offers from time to time.
