The advice from the Government is very clear: Stay home, stay safe, save lives. And that’s absolutely what all of us should be doing right now. I certainly am. It’s extremely important to protect yourselves, your family and friends, and others from serious illness. We all have a part to play.

There are some limited circumstances in which you may need to travel – for example, to get to a medical appointment, or to get to and from work if you’re an essential service worker (with necessary approval / paperwork). As public transport services have been greatly reduced at this time, passenger services like Uber, Ola and Zoomy offer a good alternative.

Both Ola and Zoomy have notified that they are running during this period. I assume this is also the case for Uber, but I have not personally seen a communication from them specifying that. Please follow all of their typical advice when riding: sitting in the backseat only (with driver in front); using hand sanitiser / washing hands before and after you ride; limiting your contact with surfaces like door handles / window winders as best able; and importantly – not riding if you are sick.

Carry your ID with you when travelling, in case you are stopped by Police or other authorities and asked for details of your travel. DO NOT travel if you do not need to. DO NOT travel large distances. The importance of “staying in your bubble” is critical: the less people you are physically in contact with, the lower the chances of community transmission. It really is that simple – and all of us I know want to do our part to save lives.

Please, at this time, stay safe and well. And where you can, stay home!
