Ola, a global leader in Ride Sharing, have now soft launched in Auckland. They’re a reasonable ride sharing / taxi / passenger service alternative to Uber and Zoomy. They’re new on the block in Auckland, so expect a few teething issues, but I expect they’ll overtake Uber in popularity quite quickly. So let’s look at that in reality. Let’s say you’re going from Blockhouse Bay to New Lynn. That’s about an $8 fare normally – but just $4 with the promotion. What about New Lynn to Auckland CBD like the Skytower or similar? That’s normally about $28 but you’d get $10 off so just $18 on the promotion. North Shore to Auckland City? Probably around $30 normally, but with $10 off it’s just $20. Or Lower Queen St to Karangahape Road? That’s typically about $7 – $9, so with the promotion would be just $3.50 – $4.50. I haven’t seen that function in Uber or Zoomy.
