How do Ola and Uber and Zoomy compare?  I took some Ola rides in Wellington, going from Cortenay Place in Wellington to Parliament area, and using the discount code it only cost me about $3.50.  I went from the Wellington Railway Station to Lower Hutt and that fare would normally have cost about $36, but with the Ola discount it only cost me $18.  There seem to be more Ola drivers in Wellington now than before, and I didn’t have to wait long to see the familiar Ola taxi arrive in each case.

In Auckland, your best bet for getting Ola rides quickly is in the CBD area. I went from Green Bay to Auckland CBD and that’s normally a $32 fare in Uber or Zoomy (and about $55 in Co-op Taxis, Alert Taxis or similar).  With the Ola discount promotional code, it was just $16 – bargain!  I had to wait about 8 minutes from ordering for the Ola driver to arrive.  It’s probably better if you’re near to shopping centres or main Auckland landmarks.  If I’d been at St Lukes Shopping Centre, or Westfield Henderson, or Lynnmall or similar, then I’d expect an Ola driver would have been nearby.  St Lukes to Auckland CBD would be a $16 Uber or Zoomy fare normally, but the Ola discount code brings it down to just $8.  So right now, I’m really liking Ola.

At Auckland Airport, Ola can pick up from the designated ride sharing bays.  From the airport, Ola savings are huge when compared to traditional taxis.  Auckland Airport to Hillsborough in a standard Auckland taxi would run you about $35 normally.  Ola, Uber, Zoomy tend to all sit around $22 or so, depending on traffic.  Right now, Ola has that great 50% off rides deal which means you’ll only pay $11 or so.  So, so, cheap.

If you like to save money, especially if you need transport to your Christmas function, or transport home from an Auckland or Wellington bar or Christmas function, Ola transportation will be a great option for you.
