Uber launched in Christchurch New Zealand circa March 2016. It’s a new Christchurch taxi / passenger service, and it’s really shaking things up in New Zealand’s shaking city! Yes, Uber, launched in San Francisco in 2009, is now in Christchurch – which can only be good news for Christchurch residents and tourists alike. UberX prices in Christchurch are currently $1.50 base fare (flagfall) and $1.80 per km. That’s a lot cheaper than some competitors charging $3 or more base fare, and circa $3 per km.
