Zoomy Auckland and Wellington – Zooming Around

I’ve been zooming around Auckland lately. That’s nothing new if you know me, I’m a busy guy and often out and about. But lately I’ve been zooming around in Zoomy vehicles, as this saves me a lot of time! The great rates that Zoomy passenger vehicles provide make it truly affordable for me to get around Auckland, to the boxing day sales at St Lukes, Lynnmall, West City, or Shore City, or to the Skycity Casino, or even to and from the Auckland International Airport or Auckland Domestic Airport terminal.

I was only at the Auckland Domestic Airport a few weeks back. It must be hard to be a tourist arriving in Auckland for the first time, and trying to work out the best Auckland taxi service to take. When you come out of the main Auckland Airport doors, you’ll see a whole taxi line full of taxis. There are Auckland Co-op Taxis, Green Cabs, Cheap Cabs, Discount Taxis, Alert Cabs, Corporate Cabs, and others. In addition there are companies like Super Shuttle and other passenger service companies that claim “cheap airport shuttle”, “shuttle to Auckland city”, “Auckland Airport to home cheap” and similar. And then there are bus services like Sky Bus, and the local AT metro buses too (which will connect you to train services).

All of the Auckland taxi companies will suggest that they have “cheap taxi fares”, or that they are the “cheapest Auckland taxi” or “cheapest Auckland taxicab”, and some may even offer discounted taxi fares to certain destinations. But the likelihood is that despite these claims none of the taxi companies you’ll find on the rank are going to be competitive with the likes of Zoomy, which is typically up to 40% cheaper than many Auckland taxi services.

There’s a big difference between taxi prices and the highly competitive fares charged by Zoomy drivers. If I get a typical taxi from Auckland Domestic Airport to my home in Green Bay, Auckland, it will normally cost me around $62 one way, including the $5 Auckland Airport pickup charge. In Zoomy, I normally pay around $38 including the same $5 pickup cost. That’s a huge saving – and one that enables me to consider travelling more often. This is part of the reason I like Zoomy. But I also like them because their Auckland passenger service has, for me, been consistently good, and the drivers I’ve had have all been professional and friendly.

I’ve also used Zoomy Wellington to go from the Wellington Airport to the main Wellington city centre. If you’re off to work in Wellington CBD, or you’re a tourist looking to visit Wellington Te Papa Museum or the Wellington Cable Car, or just out to visit the many cool bars like Danger Danger or Mermaids or others on Courtenay Place in Wellington, you’ll find Zoomy’s taxi rates to be much cheaper than the main Wellington cab companies. I found a typical wait in the cbd to be around 5-8 minutes with Zoomy, but obviously it all depends on times of day and when you’re travelling.

If you haven’t yet tried Zoomy, you’re missing out. If you need a cheap taxi to Auckland CBD or Wellington CBD, or just want a cheap airport taxi service, or you just like to use taxi service apps, or you want a taxi quote in Auckland or taxi quote in Wellington, Zoomy could be for you!
