Zoomy, a New Zealand ride sharing service, is available in Wellington. And it’s really great especially around the Wellington CBD area, from my own experience. Unlike Uber which is overseas owned, Zoomy is New Zealand owned, and offers lower commissions for drivers. The prices for Zoomy and Uber in Wellington are very similar. There’s not a lot of difference in the overall fare costs. I have found that more drivers are driving for Zoomy these days than when they first launched, and it’s now pretty easy to get a Zoomy cab any time of day or night in the main Wellington areas. When I’ve travelled around Wellington – whether that be in Cuba St, Stout Street, The Terrace, Tory St, Courtenay Place or elsewhere, all rides have been good, drivers have been friendly, and their cars have been clean.
